New gay website for Somerset |

Somerset has a fantastic new online resource catering for it's diverse lesbian and gay population. Gay Somerset (www.gaysomerset.com) was launched in March 2008 and covers gay bars, clubs, accommodation, saunas and social groups. The site editor comments, "There was a real lack of up to date and easy to access information covering gay life in Somerset. The county may not have the biggest gay scene compared to neighbouring counties but you'd be surprised what is on offer."
The website also has information on help and support services in the area, a vital life line for gay people living in small communities. "Being 'the only gay in the village' is a real life situation for some in Somerset", explains contributor John, "Knowing that there are others out there like you and that there are places to go and people to talk to is a massive relief and can really help."
It's not just for the locals, the Gay Somerset crew are undertaking a national campaign to promote Somerset as a holiday destination for the large LGBT population in the UK. Somerset has a lot to offer the gay tourist, amazing countryside, great shopping and a good selection of venues to end a busy day.
